In the "The Hobbit", who kills Smaug?

In J.R.R. Tolkien's novel "The Hobbit," Bard is the character who kills Smaug, the mighty dragon. Bard, also known as Bard the Bowman, is an exceptional archer from Lake-town, skilled with a bow and arrow. As Smaug descends upon Lake-town, Bard is able to exploit the weaknesses he had discovered in the dragon's armor, firing a single black arrow that ultimately finds its mark and kills Smaug, thus fulfilling the prophecy and restoring hope to the people of Lake-town.
