Murcia is not located in the northern area of Spain, but rather in the southeastern part of the country. The Spanish provinces found in the northern area of Spain include, but are not limited to, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country, Navarra, La Rioja, and Aragon. These provinces are located on or near the northern coast of Spain, bordering the Bay of Biscay, the Cantabrian Sea, and the Pyrenees mountain range. In contrast, Murcia is situated further south, adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea, and belongs to the region known as the Levante.
